Certification & Reliability

ChargeHolidays has many accredited partners thriving towards sustainable tourism and a greener, healthier planet. The eco-tourism sector has a large impact on this goal. However, it is not easy to behave sustainably – neither as an accommodation nor as a traveler. In the label jungle of more than 150 certificates, many accommodations do not know which standard to choose and travelers have no idea what they can trust and how to detect Greenwashing. The Global Sustainable Tourism Council lists several standards which are well proven. At ChargeHolidays we cooperate with these certifiers mapping them directly to our Dreamcatcher matrix so that everyone can easily compare different accommodations with different standards. Since many smaller and family-lead accommodations however do not have the capacity on a financial and employee basis, we offer the free Sustainable Dreamcatcher Check.

TourCert

TourCert's internationally recognized system promotes sustainability throughout the tourism value chain uniting experts from tourism, science, environment, development, and politics. "Travel for tomorrow" means future-proofing the travel industry and encouraging travelers to contribute positively.

Green Key

The Green Key award, a prestigious eco-label, recognizes environmental responsibility and sustainability in tourism. Establishments with this certification meet strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education, demonstrating their dedication to environmental protection and sustainability through regular audits.

Earhcheck

EarthCheck

EarthCheck provides services for sustainability and destination management for the travel and tourism industry. Its holistic approach and science-based methods enable destinations and operators to confidently assess and certify their performance.

Green Hospitality

This internationally recognized certification program aligns with UN SDGs, GSTC criteria, and supports the Pathway to Net Positive Hospitality from the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (SHA). It provides benchmark tools based on SHA's Carbon, Water & Waste Measurement Methodologies, promoting sustainability in the hospitality industry.

Green Globe

Green Globe members achieve significant sustainability results daily, benefiting their companies, employees, local communities, and the environment. All goals from energy & water consumption to promoting reuse & recycling are managed through a comprehensive sustainability plan wiht over 300 activities at all organizational levels.

Österreichisches Umweltzeichen (Austrian Sustainability Sign)

The Austrian Ecolabel represent "Vacation with Environmental Benefits", aiming to improve environmental and quality standards in establishments, boost their image, and increase guest satisfaction. They signify a commitment to sustainable tourism practices and are trusted by environmentally conscious travelers seeking quality accommodations.

Hilton Light Stay (ISO)

Hilton achieved GSTC Recognition by developing a Responsible Travel and Tourism Guide that integrates GSTC Criteria into its existing LightStay management system. The Guide complements LightStay's functionalities, addressing key areas of responsible travel and tourism required for GSTC certification.

Asian Ecotourism Network

The Asian Ecotourism Network's standard aligns with updated GSTC Industry Criteria and reflects Asian ecotourism contexts. The AESA is applicable to ecolodges, ecoresorts, and nature-based lodges in the Asia Pacific.

GreenSeal

Green Seal is a global nonprofit which has been offering rigorous ecolabeling standards for 30 years. With thousands of certified products, services, and spaces, the Green Seal mark signifies a high benchmark of health and environmental leadership, promoting better purchasing decisions and rewarding industry innovation.

What is GSTC? The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) was established by UN agencies together with NGOs and the private sector to act as an independent organization.
