What kind of accomodations do you list

We list many different kinds of accommodations. From small family-owned hostels to boutique stays to hotel chains. Our believe is not to forbid anyone traveling in a way they enjoy, but instead we inspire and share best practices which help the environment to keep intact. By giving transparent insights into the sustainable methods used, we give you as customer full agency to chose between the different accommodations and hand over tools and ideas how you can shape the sustainnable transformation no matter where you spend your night.

You do not have an accommodation where I want to go. Why should I still use the App?

ChargeHolidays has a lot of features which go beyond just finding and booking an accommodation. You can still plan your whole trip, create an itinerary, compare different modes of transportation, track your CO2 footprint and much more. If you find an apartment outside our portfolio, reach out to the accommodation directly and send us an email. We will make sure to add it asap. Additionally, we would love if you fill in the feedback form about your experience so that we get a more detailed picture of the accommodation.

What is the Sustainability Dreamcatcher

Our Sustainability Dreamcatcher allows travelers to get transparent insights into the sustainable methods an accommodation is applying. Divided into 7 categories, it brings light into the label jungle of more than 150 international certificates in the hotel industry. You, as a traveler, can directly see in which category the accommodation is behaving sustainably and where it still has deficiencies. This not only enables you to make an informed decision but also motivates the accommodations to improve their sustainable practices. The data is derived either from our own questionnaire or from one of our certification partners, recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. In the latter case you will find the icon of the respective label in the middle of the Dreamcatcher.

Can I compensate my CO2 footprint with ChargeHolidays?

Thanks to our cooperation with myclimate you can contribute to a more sustainable world by calculating your CO2 footprint and donating a respective sum. We believe in the concept of firstly minimizing your emissions. However, we are aware that it is difficult to plan a carbon neutral trip, hence the myclimate projects such as building sustainble cooking equipment in Kenya can help on a social as well as environmental level.
